Interested in becoming a director for Tri-County Electric?

Serving on Tri-County Electric Cooperative's board of directors is an important community responsibility. An electric cooperative’s board of directors is comprised of electric cooperative members who believe in doing what’s best for their communities while abiding by the seven cooperative principles. Board members are elected by the members, just like you!

Being an electric cooperative director comes with several expectations, requirements and responsibilities. As a board member, you help make decisions that will impact the cooperative’s member-owners. Some of those responsibilities can include the following:

  • Risk mitigation,
  • Setting policies and rates,
  • Understanding power supply,
  • Participating in strategic planning,
  • Making financial decisions,
  • Promoting the cooperative business model,
  • Gaining insights on political and environmental impacts, and
  • Meeting member-owner expectations.
How does the board election work?

Tri-County Electric cooperatives handle elections via a few methods. You must obtain a required number of signatures/supporters on a petition form. Members, just like you, then vote by mail-in, online or in-person ballot to fill expiring board positions at annual meeting events.
